Promotion of Access to Information (PAIA)

1. Introduction
This page is published in compliance with the Promotion of Access to Information Act, 2000 (PAIA).
The purpose of PAIA is to give effect to the constitutional right of access to information held by the State and by private bodies that is required for the exercise or protection of any rights.
DAISA (Database for the Accommodation Industry in South Africa) supports transparency, accountability, and openness. This notice explains how individuals may request access to information held by DAISA in accordance with PAIA.

3. Purpose of DAISA
DAISA provides a centralised guest behaviour database for the accommodation industry in South Africa.
The system allows registered accommodation providers to record, verify, and view guest conduct information to promote trust and accountability within the industry.
4. Records held by DAISA
As a private body, DAISA holds records that may include:
Member registration details (names, email addresses, contact information).
Guest behaviour records submitted by member accommodation providers.
Internal correspondence and administrative records.
Financial and payment records (where applicable).
Website usage logs and related data.
These records are primarily maintained for operational, verification, and security purposes.
5. Requesting access to information
Access to any record must comply with PAIA and the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
If you wish to request access to a record, you must:
Submit your request in writing using the prescribed Form A (available from the Information Regulator’s website).
Address your request to the Information Officer at admin@daisa.co.za.
Clearly state the information you require and the reason you need it.
Pay any applicable fees (as prescribed by PAIA regulations).
DAISA will respond within the timeframes set out in PAIA and may refuse a request that does not comply with the Act or that contains protected or personal information.
6. Grounds for refusal
Access to information may be refused if the record:
Contains personal or confidential information about a third party;
Would harm the commercial or financial interests of another person or DAISA;
Is privileged from disclosure by law; or
Would prejudice an investigation or legal proceeding.
If a request is refused, written reasons will be provided in accordance with PAIA.

If you believe that your right of access to information has been unlawfully denied, you may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa).

8. Updates to this notice
This PAIA notice may be updated from time to time to reflect changes in the law or in DAISA’s operations.
The effective date will be updated each time the page is revised.
