False Report Policy

Effective Date: 18 May 2026

1. Purpose

DAISA is built on trust. The accuracy and integrity of guest behaviour records are essential to protecting South African accommodation providers and ensuring fairness for guests.

This False Report Policy outlines the consequences of submitting false, misleading, or unsubstantiated reports on the DAISA platform.

2. What Constitutes a False Report

A false report includes, but is not limited to:

  • Knowingly submitting inaccurate or fabricated guest behaviour information

  • Exaggerating or misrepresenting an incident

  • Submitting a report without a confirmed booking or valid stay

  • Omitting material facts that would change the nature of the record

  • Using the reporting system to harass, defame, or retaliate against a guest

  • Submitting a report as a “warning” without an actual incident

3. Verification Standards

Members are required to:

  • Link every report to a confirmed booking at their establishment

  • Provide a specific date of stay

  • Include a factual, clear description of the behaviour

  • Submit supporting evidence where reasonably available

Reports that do not meet these minimum standards may be flagged for review or rejected.

4. Consequences of False Reporting

If a member is found to have submitted a false or misleading report:

Violation LevelConsequence
First offence (minor)Written warning and mandatory retraining on reporting standards
Second offence (moderate)Temporary suspension of reporting privileges (30–90 days)
Serious or repeat offencePermanent removal from the DAISA platform
Malicious or defamatory reportingImmediate permanent ban and possible referral to legal authorities

Important: Submitting false reports may also expose the member to civil or criminal liability, including defamation claims or legal action by affected guests.

5. Investigation Process

When a report is disputed by a guest or flagged as potentially false:

  1. Notification – The member who submitted the report will be notified and asked to provide supporting evidence

  2. Review – DAISA will review the available information, including the member’s evidence and the guest’s dispute

  3. Determination – A finding will be made based on the balance of probabilities

  4. Outcome – Appropriate consequences will be applied if false reporting is found

Members may appeal a finding by contacting DAISA within 14 days.

6. Protection for Honest Mistakes

DAISA distinguishes between deliberate false reporting and good-faith errors.

  • If a member makes an honest mistake but corrects it promptly, no penalties will apply

  • Members are encouraged to update or correct records as soon as they become aware of an error

7. Member Accountability

By joining DAISA, members acknowledge that:

  • They are solely responsible for the accuracy of the information they submit

  • False reporting undermines the integrity of the entire platform

  • DAISA reserves the right to take appropriate action, including account termination, without refund, for false reporting violations

8. Reporting Suspected False Reports

If you suspect another member has submitted a false report, please contact DAISA at admin@daisa.co.za with relevant details.
